Social Media – The Why and the How

Join us on Thursday 23rd February 2012

You can attend either or both of the two seminars we are running.

In the morning the focus will be on the ‘WHY’ of social media. It’s aimed at beginners and those who have yet to make up their minds. In the afternoon the focus will be on “HOW’ to get the most value from your involvement with social media.

WHY social media?

- The morning session

This will focus on helping you decide whether social media is something you need to embrace. During this session Mark will introduce the concept of online social networking and explain the pros and cons for accountants (and other professionals).

Mark does not believe that all accountants or other professionals need to embrace social media. Is it right for you? How can you get the best from it? Come along on the morning of  23rd February and find out. Mark promises to explode some of the myths and to help you decide how you can gain maximum benefit from your social media activity.

With his popular practical, commercial and pragmatic style, in the morning Mark will cover:

  • Why bother with social media (or social ‘networking’)
  • Why blogging might be something you want to try
  • Why social media is relevant to some accountants and other professional advisers
  • What works and what doesn’t work re marketing your services on social media
  • The main business differences between LinkedIn, Twitter, Ecademy and Facebook
  • With limited time what’s worthwhile and what isn’t?
  • How to get started if you want to experiment with twitter, linkedin, facebook or ecademy.

Both sessions will be interactive and Mark will tailor the content to suit the audience on the day. You can attend either or both of the two seminars on 23rd February 2012. Please note that space is limited at the venue, so book now to avoid disappointment.

HOW can you get the most from social media?

- The afternoon session

This will be a hands on session and will focus more on the tips, techniques and tools that you can use to get the most from social media.  If you have experimented with or started to use twitter and linkedin, for example, Mark will show you how to save time and how to maximise the value of the time you spend on social media.

If your first impressions are that twitter is for twits or ‘selebs’ and that LinkedIn is for CVs and recruiters – it’s time to think again. You can avoid all of them and gain significant benefits for your practice, your business and your career if you learn how to use the tools effectively. This seminar will save you hours of time and help you enjoy your social media activity in a way you never thought possible.

During the afternoon, Mark will cover:

  • How you can get the most ‘bang for your buck’
  • How you can avoid the spam and trolls you sometimes see on social media
  • How you can use social media to promote your services to your target audience
  • How you can manage your time when using social media
  • How to craft your online profiles on different social media – with your business objectives in mind
  • How to benefit from the effective use of groups on Linkedin
  • How to benefit from the effective use of lists on twitter
  • How to manage the emails and notifications you receive from Linkedin and other social media platforms

Both sessions will be interactive and Mark will tailor the content to suit the audience on the day. You can attend either or both of the two seminars on 23rd February 2012.  Please note that space is limited at the venue, so book now to avoid disappointment.
